Recently, in a development, former IPL president Lalit Modi claimed that the owners of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are actively looking at the franchise. Modi said that the current owner, Diazio PLC has decided to remove the team from its balance sheet and is demanding potential buyers.
The year 2025 Royal Challengers have been incident to Bangalore. In particular, the franchise won its first IPL title, a long trophy drought. However, forced a stampede at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was seen in a tragedy, then 11 deaths and several injuries.

Lalit Modi said that Diazio PLC has decided to sell the franchise. Modi said that the company has now decided to remove the team from its balance sheet and find potential buyers.
Modi posted on X (East Twitter), “There are a lot of rumors about the sale of a @IPL franchise, especially @Rcbtweets. Well, in the past, they have been denied. But it seems that the owners have finally decided to get it out of their balance sheet and sell it,” Modi has posted on (previous Twitter).

There have been rumors about the possible sales of Royal Challengers Bangalore, the report earlier this year stated that Diazio PLC is interacting with many interested buyers.
The IPL’s victory, loyal fans and competent management have a strong interest in the franchise. Lalit Modi said that major global funds or sovereign money funds would be eager to acquire RCB as part of their investment and India-centric strategies.
“I am sure that the IPL has won last season and with its strong base of fans and of course, the team and a great management team, it can be the only team that will be available as a completely #IPL franchise. I am sure that big global funds or a sovereign funds will like them as their own investment strategy and India strategy.”

Lalit Modi predicted that Royal Challengers Bangalore could achieve a record valuation. He insisted that the price of RCB will probably set a new benchmark for all IPL franchises.

It will definitely make a new record evaluation that will just go to show that the IPL is not only the fastest growing global game league, but also the most valuable. It is also a new price that the #RCB set will be a new floor price for all teams.
Royal Challengers Bangalore claimed their first IPL title in 2025. The team led by Rajat Patidar defeated Punjab Kings in the final. RCB demonstrated continuity throughout the season, finished second with 19 points to win nine out of 14 league matches.
He then defeated table-toppers PBK by eight wickets in the first qualifier to secure a place in the final. After losing the first three IPL finals (2009, 2011 and 2016), RCB finally crossed the barrier with a thrilling victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
