Mo Bobat, director of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), has opened the tragic stampede during the team’s victory ceremony at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Bobat said that fans will always be a part of the team’s history, and the team is committed to recognizing them and their families.

The day after RCB won the IPL 2025, on 4 July, there was trampled outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The incident claimed that 11 people lost their lives amidst a large crowd outside the scene. In response, the franchise -based franchise announced a financial assistance of ₹ 10 lakh for each family affected by the tragedy.

RCB and Madeen to win IPL title waiting for 18 years

Royal Challengers Bangalore ended the 18 -year wait by winning their first IPL title in 2025. He defeated Punjab Kings (PBK) in the final in Ahmedabad, overcame the heartbeat of three previous deficit in 2009, 2011 and 2016.

RCB posted 190/9, with Virat Kohli with top scoring with 43 runs, while other batsmen contributed significant runs. Punjab Kings worked hard, but fell short, finished at 184/7, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya took two wickets in each.

The victory for the RCB camp was emotional and fans waited for almost two decades. A victory parade in Ahmedabad was rejected due to a short notice. In a social media post, Virat Kohli assured that there will be a ceremony in Bengaluru after the team returned home.

Mo Bobat insisted on introducing milestones not to the players as a burden, but as an opportunity. He said that it was unavoidable to win the IPL and questioned why it could not be with RCB now.

“The fact is that, RCB was going to win the IPL at a stage. This is a fact. In another 100 years, they will win it once, okay? So, why not we?” Bobat said.

Royal Challengers Bangalore enjoyed a major IPL 2025 season. After making the playoffs several times since 2020, but after failing to reach the final, the team finally broke.

In the league stage, RCB won nine out of 14 matches, finishing second on the points table with 19 points. In particular, they became the first team in IPL history to win all their seven fixtures in the same season.

He faced Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 and comfortably won by eight wickets. The team led by Rajat Patidar earned a direct ticket in the final, where they completed their campaign.
