Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took a sharp catch to dismiss Will Young during the third and final ODI against New Zealand at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, January 18. After getting out, former India captain Virat Kohli celebrated aggressively and the clip went viral on social media.

Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, India won the toss in the third ODI and decided to bowl first. He made one change in his playing eleven by including Arshdeep Singh in place of Prasidh Krishna. New Zealand landed with the winning combination. India won the first ODI, but the visiting team made a comeback in the second match.

India broke a crucial partnership with a sharp fielding effort from Ravindra Jadeja at backward point. The crowd at the Holkar Stadium erupted as India struck a crucial moment.

Harshit Rana forced Will Young to hit aggressive cut shots. Young stayed back and hit the ball in the air instead of putting it down. Jadeja reacted immediately, diving to his right and completing a clean catch with both hands. It was not an easy chance, but he looked in control of it.

Young was out after scoring 30 runs in 41 balls with the help of five fours and one six. With this wicket the partnership of 53 runs ended and Rana got the second wicket of the innings. India celebrated the success with energy under Virat Kohli as the momentum swung back in their favour.

Harshit Rana strikes first ball to dismiss Devon Conway in series decider

Harshit Rana took a wicket on his first ball of the match. Rana dismissed Devon Conway for just five runs, leaving New Zealand at two for six in the second over.

The right-arm fast bowler hit the back-of-a-length spot outside off and the ball went straight after being pitched up. Conway hesitated between playing and leaving, the ball hit the edge of his bat and Rohit Sharma took a simple catch at slip.

Rana dismissed Conway for only 18 runs in 23 balls in all three ODIs. India captain Shubman Gill’s call to give the new ball to Rana before Mohammed Siraj along with Arshdeep Singh immediately became necessary to win the match.

India attacked New Zealand early as Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana

Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana dismissed New Zealand’s top order batsmen early in the innings. Rana took two wickets, while Arshdeep dismissed Henry Nicholls for a golden duck.

Till the time of writing the news, New Zealand’s score after 16 overs was 75/3. Daryl Mitchell was batting on 31 and Glenn Phillips was batting on 8, with Mitchell trying to steady the innings.

Chasing the target of 301 runs, India won the first ODI by three wickets in Vadodara, thanks to Virat Kohli’s 93 runs. Thanks to Mitchell’s unbeaten 131 runs in 117 balls and Will Young’s 87 runs, New Zealand leveled the series by winning by seven wickets while chasing the target of 285 runs in Rajkot.

New Zealand is trying to win the ODI series in India for the first time. India have won their last eight home ODI series against New Zealand since 1988.
