After Ravindra Jadeja’s move from Chennai Super Kings to Rajasthan Royals, the veteran all-rounder revealed that he is yet to have the opportunity to speak with MS Dhoni or any other CSK teammate after leaving the franchise.
Who would have ever thought that Chennai Super Kings would release their ace spinner Ravindra Jadeja? But he did, and the experienced all-rounder moved to the Rajasthan Royals camp, the former franchise with whom he played his first season in the IPL.
Jadeja spent 13 seasons in the Chennai Super Kings team, and won three titles with them in 2018, 2021 and 2023. He represented Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017, the two years when the CSK team was banned from the IPL.
New team, new look: Ravindra Jadeja announced his arrival for Royals in this style
It was surreal to see Ravindra Jadeja playing in the IPL for a team that did not wear the yellow shirt. The feeling was never so strange when he played for Rajasthan Royals in 2008-09 and Kochi Tuskers in 2011.
This was the first time that he played against his former franchise, Chennai Super Kings, earning him a reputation as an excellent all-rounder in modern times. But then again, that’s the nature of the IPL: players jump from one ship to another, and their loyalties are tested.
When Ravindra Jadeja took the field for Rajasthan Royals at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, he was seen in a new avatar. Sporting a new look with a buzz haircut, Jadeja looked like a bison running through the CSK batting order in the middle overs.
Why didn’t Jadeja talk to his former CSK teammates?
When Ravindra Jadeja was asked if he has spoken to anyone from his former CSK dugout after being traded to the Royals, Jadeja said that he has not got the chance yet. The four-time IPL champion claimed that he wants to talk to players like MS Dhoni or Suresh Raina.
“I have not spoken to Mahi Bhai. He keeps his phone switched off all the time.” He further added, “But whenever I meet them – and I will meet Raina bhai and Anil Kumble bhai too – I will talk to all of you.”
The veteran spinner admitted that change is a difficult phase for him, but he accepted it as a part of the journey. Jadeja will integrate with the new group, learn from them and share his experience.
Ravindra Jadeja won a big battle against Shivam Dubey
As Jadeja was in the opposite camp, he had a much-awaited matchup against the proud Indian all-rounder Shivam Dubey. Shivam Dubey has been a part of the Indian T20 team and has performed brilliantly in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
A powerful display of big hitting from the left arm against the left arm orthodox spinner is a terrifying sight for the great Ravindra Jadeja. He dismissed Sarfaraz Khan on his very second ball and then Shivam Dubey came on the pitch.
Dubey became aggressive from the very first ball and hit a powerful six off Jadeja’s ball. After this he continued attacking his former partner. On the third ball, Dubey once again tried to clear the fence and was caught at long-off. Jadeja won in the battle of the leftists.
