Chennai Super Kings (CSK) veteran player Suresh Raina has said that the five-time champions should definitely retain champion all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.
Suresh Raina has also named some big players who Chennai Super Kings (CSK) should release to free up some purse and enter the auction with a good amount of cash in their kitty.
Will Ravindra Jadeja be replaced by Sanju Samson?
Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s journey with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is likely to end very soon, as multiple media outlets have reported that he is set to be traded to Rajasthan Royals (RR).
According to reports, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will give Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in exchange for superstar wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson.
If it indeed happens, it will go down in history as one of the biggest trades ever in the Indian Premier League (IPL), as it involves two high-profile Indian players.
Some reports also claim that Ravindra Jadeja may be offered the captaincy by Rajasthan Royals (RR) as their captain Sanju Samson will move to Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

While talking to Geostar, Raina said that Noor Ahmed, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad are definitely in the retention list of CSK.
“Noor Ahmed should be retained. He is a mystery spinner, so he should be retained. MS Dhoni should definitely be retained; he is playing this year, so he should remain with the team.”
“Ruturaj Gaikwad should remain the captain. Ravindra Jadeja should be retained again. He is a great player for CSK. He has done really well for the team in the last few years, so ‘Sir Ravindra Jadeja’ has to be there.”
Notably, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has confirmed that MS Dhoni will play the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
Devon Conway should be released- Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina further said that Kiwi Devon Conway should be released by the franchise along with Indian all-rounders Vijay Shankar and Deepak Hooda.
He said that Conway, Hooda and Shankar were given consistent chances by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but they failed to repay the team’s faith and did not perform as was expected of them.
“Devon Conway should be released. CSK need a local opener, which they will look for in the mini-auction. Vijay Shankar has already got a lot of chances. So I think CSK should release him as well. Deepak Hooda should also be released,” Raina said.
“There are a lot of players available in the mini-auction who can provide a similar combination for the team. These players got their chance last year, and we saw how they played. So, maybe CSK will have to look for someone new.”
