Meanwhile, former Indian chief selector Chris Srikanth has expressed surprise at the time of Ashwin’s retirement time. He believes that the former Indian off-spinner could play in the IPL for at least two more years, especially given his fitness and rich experience.

Reacting to his YouTube channel, Srikanth said, “I am not sure why Ashwin retired. If I was in his place, I would continue to play IPL for at least one and two years. Certainly, for Ashwin, money, fame, or name is not an issue.
