Former India former-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin opened the abusive remarks of former-Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yusuf on Suryakumar Yadav during the Asia Cup 2025. Ashwin criticized the misuse directed on Suryakumar on Pakistani television, “Never argued with people below his IQ.”
Yusuf called Suryakumar as “Surkumar Yadav” during a TV debate, which led to criticism in the cricket community. The former batsman later tried to postpon backlash, pointing to former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who first made a controversial “barking dog” about Shahid Afridi.

Speaking on the weight of his YouTube show Ash, Ravichandran Ashwin said that his honor comes from his performance in the field of cricket. He refused to engage in name-koling and said that players could sometimes speak beyond their expertise.
“I am a cricketer. Whatever love and respect I get today is that the things I have done in the field of cricket is.”
“Yes, sometimes we can speak beyond the boundary line, and anyone can get value in it. But the best things are left for experts. When we step into areas we do not understand, it becomes dirty,” he said.

Ravichandran Ashwin said that it is useless to argue with those who have less IQ. He advised to be serene and to be attracted to them instead of avoiding such conflicts.
“I recently read a beautiful comment, and this is something I will take for the rest of my life – never argue with people below your IQ level. Because they will pull you to their level and beat you with experience,” said Ashwin.
“He will never try to come to your level. But because you have general knowledge. You apply logic. You will try to understand their level. You are lost. You are lost in life. So, I will say. Please do not go to their level. Because you do this. You will lose on their playground. You’ll lose easily.”
Yusuf’s remarks about Suryakumar Yadav criticized Indian fans and former players. Yusuf later tried to focus on Irfan Pathan’s earlier comments about Afridi.

Ravichandran Ashwin said that the Indian team focuses only on cricket. He said that the team is not interested in engaging in an off-field theater and India has been described as a superpower in cricket.
