Former National Cricket Team of India Ravichandran Ashwin has snatched the tag ‘Premier T20 bowler’ from Jaspreet Bumrah and handed it over to the left-handed pacer Arshdeep Singh.
Ravichandran Ashwin has also urged the Gautam Gambhir-Nedic team management to maintain the Left-Arm Paper in XI for the Asia Cup 2025 final against the Pakistan National Cricket Team.
Arshdeep Singh shows bowling brilliant versus Sri Lanka
Punjab Paper Arshdeep is going to take a major wicket for Team India in T20I cricket and T20 is the first Indian bowler to take 100 wickets internationally.
Before the start of the Asia Cup 2025, each and each expert predicted that he would be starting to play XI in India, to form a deadly speed-alliance pairing with Jaspreet Bumrah.
But the Indian team management took a shocking decision and chose Jasprit Bumrah as the only expert pacer and added him to Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dubey as other seamors.
Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh got to play the match against Oman when Bumrah was rested, and returned with 1/37 figures. Then, he made it on the side in a dead-rubber match against Sri Lanka, where he finished with 1/46 figures.
His figures against Sri Lanka do not really show how good he was because Pesar gave only 11 runs, which was 12 runs in the final.
Then, Arshdeep Singh bowled super over, where he gave just two runs and took two wickets to guarantee India in a thrilling match.
I will take out my neck and say that he is the lead bowler of India in this format – Ravichandran Ashwin
In a video shared on his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Butt’, Ravichandran Ashwin said that Arshdeep Singh is absolutely mandatory in the eleven to play and he is labeled as India’s premiere T20 bowler.
“Even before the start of the Asia Cup, I was saying that Arshdeep Singh is mandatory to play. He once again proved my point. What is a terrible finish for the game, the way he bowled on Super, he reiterated that he is mandatory.
“He showed why he is one of the leading bowlers of India. When Jasprit Bumrah is on this side, people will not talk much about Arshdeep, but I will take out my neck and say that he is the lead bowler of India in this format.”
He has taken 100 wickets – Ravichandran Ashwin
The legendary off-spinner said that Arshdeep Singh has time and has already taken 100 wickets and has already taken 100 wickets, which shows its bowling skills in the format.
Ashwin urged the team management led by Gautam Gambhir not to misbehave with Arshdeep Singh and give him a permanent place in playing XI in No.8 in Team India’s T20I.
Ashwin said, “He has taken 100 wickets, and he has once again proved why he is very good. The number 8 slot is to be Arshdeep Singh; you cannot leave him out,” Ashwin said.
