The disappointing performance of the Indian national cricket team in the recent five-match T20 series in England has left the Indian cricket fraternity angry and disappointed. After England swept the series 4-0, Ravichandran Ashwin revealed one of the biggest reasons behind India’s defeat.

Ravichandran Ashwin has said that England showed confidence in its players during the five-match T20 series, while India kept changing its combinations. He believes this constant chopping and changing made it difficult for the team to compromise, and the results clearly reflected that difference. Earlier, Sanjay Manjrekar had blamed BCCI and IPL after India’s 4-0 T20 series loss to England.

Ravichandran Ashwin criticizes India’s selection after England’s 4-0 humiliation

Speaking to senior journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin said that India were not only defeated but completely defeated by England in the recent T20 series. Meanwhile, Graeme Swann gave a blunt verdict on Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s criticism.

The former Indian off-spinner has reiterated that England dominated India in every department during the series. Ravichandran Ashwin also highlighted the difference in the way both the teams handle their players.

Ravichandran Ashwin has pointed out that England continued to support their players, including Jos Buttler, even when they were badly struggling for runs, but India continued to change their starting combination and struggled to decide between Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. This lack of stability affected the team’s performance.

Ravichandran Ashwin said, “We didn’t lose just like that. They just beat us. Actually, Wimbledon is still going on in England and they beat us there. Look, I will tell you that there is a huge difference in the performance of India and England. They kept giving him chances and we were playing a game of musical chairs with the openers, trying to decide who to play between Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Suryavanshi.”

England defeated India to win the series 4-0 and became the number 1 T20 team.

England ended the series on a high note by defeating India by 56 runs in the fifth and final T20I at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on 11 July. The win gave England a 4–0 series win after the opening match was washed out due to rain in Durham.

The win also helped England replace India as the No. 1 team in the ICC men’s T20I rankings. The fifth and final T20 match started late by 45 minutes because the Indian team bus was stuck in traffic. India won the toss and chose to bowl first, but the decision was not in their favor.

Prasidh Krishna dismissed Phil Salt early, but after that England were in complete control. Jos Buttler played a sensational inning of 131 runs in just 64 balls, while captain Harry Brook remained unbeaten on 95 runs in 45 balls.

Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma fight back, but India fall short in chasing the big target

They added a record-breaking 233 runs for the second wicket, the highest partnership for that wicket in men’s T20I cricket. England scored a huge score of 257/3 in 20 overs. Chasing the huge target, Ishan Kishan fought hard scoring 56 runs in 35 balls, while Tilak Verma scored 53 runs in 25 balls.

However, the required run rate continued to increase as wickets kept falling from the other end. Sam Curran led the bowling attack by taking three wickets, leaving India trailing by 56 runs. Now, the teams will focus on the upcoming three-match ODI series starting from July 14.
