Former Team India of-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin On Thursday, 25 September, formed history after signing with Sydney Thunder for the next version of the Big Bash League (BBL). Ashwin became the first Indian cricketer with international experience to play in the T20 Franchise League in Australia.
Ashwin became eligible to participate in the foreign franchise tournament only after moving away from Indian cricket. He ended his career in international cricket during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on 18 December. The spinner announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) last month.
Ravichandran Ashwin to join Sydney Thunder for the second half of BBL
Ravichandran Ashwin has registered with the highest base price for next week’s ILT20 auction. He will participate in the full tournament scheduled from December 2 to January 4, which means that he will remember the first three weeks of the Big Bash League.
Ashwin will join the second part of the Sydney Thunder BBL Season in January. He will play in the tournament from 20 to 25 January and will also participate in the final if the team is eligible.
Tamil Nadu will join teammates including spinner Warner, Lockey Ferguson, Sam Billings and Shadab Khan. He will strengthen the spin bowling department in the latter half of the Big Bash League season.

Ravichandran Ashwin expressed his enthusiasm about joining Sydney ThunderHe also said that the conversation with the leadership was excellent and he said that he shares a similar mentality with captain David Warner.

Ashwin ended his international career with 537 Test wickets. He is taking the seventh highest wicket in the all-time Test history. The spinner took 765 wickets in 287 matches for India in three formats.

Thunder General Manager Trent Copland described Ashwin’s signature as the largest in BBL history. Copland also said that Ashwin expressed his intention to make a positive impact on Tanveer Sangh and Chris Green.
“I think this is certainly the biggest signature in BBL history – the first Indian legend and an icon of sports,” said Copland.
“He is a very competitive boy, but one of the most impressive things before I mentioned one thing about our club, he said, ‘I loved what Sam Billings did for you guys last year.
Ashwin represented five franchisees in the IPL – Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Super Junts, Delhi Capital, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. The bowler won two IPL titles with CSK in 2010 and 2011 and took 187 wickets in the tournament.
