Former Team India of-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin expressed disappointment over the boycott of Shreyas Iyer and Yashsvi Jiswal from Squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Ashwin also said that Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jiswal are rare and said that they play for the team.
The Asia Cup squad came to know after a selection meeting which included T20I Captain Suryakumar, Chief Selector Ajit Aggarkar and BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia. Yashasvi Jaiswal is nominated among the standby players, while Shreyas Iyer was released out of both the main squad and the store.

“Jaiswal got an opportunity in Test cricket. They took it with both hands. The most successful test batsman to make a start for India in recent times. He got excellence in any format he gave a chance.”
“What a man can do separate from excellence? He showed excellence, and now, at that place, his chance is gone. What he can do now? Go back to the drawing board. I wish him best when he gets a chance in future,” Ashwin said.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made his T20I debut for India in August 2023 against the West Indies. He scored 723 runs in 23 T20I matches at a strike rate of 164.31, including a century and five fifty. Southpo last played a T20I match against Sri Lanka in July 2024.
Jaiswal has been a prominent artist for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left -handed batsman has scored 2,166 runs in 67 matches with 15 fifties and two hundreds. He was maintained by the franchise before the 2025 mega auction.
Jaiswal was a backup opener during the T20 World Cup 2025. However, he did not find once in playing, as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were opened throughout the tournament.
