Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said that Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill are better batsmen compared to big stroke players like Abhishek Sharma on tracks which have not provided much help to the batsmen.

This claim was made by Ravichandran Ashwin after Abhishek Sharma was out on just 6 runs off the bowling of Kagiso Rabada. However, his dismissal was a huge disappointment for Sunrisers, who were bowled out for just 86 runs and lost by a huge margin of 82 runs.

Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill will be more useful – Ravichandran Ashwin

Former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin claimed that veteran Indian batsman Abhishek Sharma should learn to adapt to situations instead of just counter-attacking. He suggested that batsmen like Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan are better players on tracks that do not offer much to the batsmen.

Former CSK star Ravichandran Ashwin claimed, “Abhishek Sharma needs to work on it. T20 cricket has changed. Abhishek Sharma has been selected in the Indian team because he plays a fearless brand of cricket. But if T20 cricket is given such pitches tomorrow, Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill will be more useful.”

He said, “I want T20 cricket to be played on such pitches. But not just on these pitches, because spinners were not in the game here. I want spinners to be in the game as well.”

Ravichandran Ashwin’s sharp comparison on Abhishek Sharma

The former Indian spinner also explained through an analogy, where he claimed that a car cannot be driven at the same speed on a highway as well as in a traffic jam.

“Abhishek Sharma hit a six with extension off Kagiso Rabada. It means this guy has got a lot of time and he is very talented. His bat swing is very good. What did he do next? He exposed all three stumps. The ball came in, hit him on the chest and he was bowled. Can’t Abhishek Sharma play that shot? He can,” Ashwin revealed after dismissing Abhishek.

He said, “You can drive above 100 km/h and even 200 km/h on the highway, but who will die if you drive at the same speed in a traffic jam? Cricket is a game where conditions are king.”

Abhishek asked to learn from senior Indian cricketers

Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said that he is Abhishek’s number. 1 fans and they should learn to understand situations well from senior Indian cricketers like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

“I’m Abhishek Sharma’s No. 1 fan, and I want to see him read these situations and take singles. Go to the other end, build partnerships. King Kohli and Rohit Sharma are celebrated because they read the situations so well,” Ashwin claimed.

However, Abhishek has scored 481 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 209.13 in this season of IPL. He is currently ranked third in the Orange Cap leaderboard.
