Ravichandran Ashwin said that the India women’s national cricket team’s victory in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 is bigger than the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup wins in 1983 and 2011.

“Harmanpreet Kaur has rocked the ball in many ways since 2009. Despite this, when she lost three games in the tournament, people questioned her captaincy. And I was surprised. To come from so far behind… Many years ago, Ambati Rayudu was playing at the Hyderabad Gymkhana Stadium. It was in 2017/18, and she was already a sensation, and so the stadium was packed. “I would really consider this a bigger and greater achievement than any other World Cup we have won, because it inspires girls to play sports and consider sports as a career option,” she said on her YouTube channel.

Ravichandran Ashwin further said that India’s Women’s World Cup win deserves a proper 8-episode documentary.
“It is such an important achievement that it can be adapted into a film by directors and producers. But they have to change the way of telling the story. They cannot show that India won only because of 1-2 players. It is not possible.”
Ravichandran Ashwin said, “People will always talk about Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Harmanpreet. But I would like to see a story on Amol Muzumdar, Sri Charani and how she stuck to her guns. Remember, she was not part of the plan till June. I would love to see such small stories interspersed with the emotional sports story in an 8-episode documentary, because it would really be a special story.” Is.”
