Indian Spin Mestro Ravishandran Ashwin is set to make waves in the inaugural International League T20 (ILT20) auction on 1 October. Last December, retired from international cricket and from IPL in August 2025, Ravichandran Ashwin is now looking at his first foreign T20 League Stint.
In particular, the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not allow active Indian players to play in the foreign league to protect the Indian Premier League (IPL), but retired players like Ashwin can participate after ending all relations with Indian cricket as a player.

Now, Ravichandran Ashwin has officially registered for the first LT20 auction, which has been organized by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) in the UAE.

As reported by Espncricinfo, former Indian all-rounders are among 24 Indian icons, which are likely to go under the hammer on 1 October. The ILT20 Longlist currently has around 800 players.
The final list will be confirmed this week after obtaining a specialist from each franchise. According to the report, Ashwin is the only player with a six-hearted base price on the ILT20 auction Longist.
Ravichandran Ashwin enters the ILT20 auction with a record base price
Spin Mestro has entered the ILT20 auction at a large scale at a large scale at $ 120,000 (INR 1.06 crore), the highest for any player in the tournament.

ILT20 auction rules and squad details
Meanwhile, the fourth version of the ILT20 is set to lighten the cricket calendar from 2 December to 4 January, featuring six teams. The franchise has already completed retention and direct signature in July, where each team was allowed to spend up to USD 800,000, with the remaining USD 800,000 for the auction purse.
Teams can spend a total USD 2 million, with a minimum of 1.5 million USD. Additionally, two wildcards outside the franchise auction can use 250,000 USDs to get players. On the other hand, each squad should have 19 to 21 players, including at least 11 from full member countries, four from UAE, Kuwait and two from Saudi Arabia and two from other associate countries.
Each franchise also has a Right-to-Match (RTM) card to buy the UAE player back from the 2025 squad or development team. In particular, ILT20 CEO David White has stated that he is participating in the tournament with Ashwin as both a player and coach.
