Former India national cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri, who shares a good relationship with Virat Kohli, was seen trolling the great modern-day batsman for registering back-to-back zeroes in the ODI series against the Australia national cricket team.
The former coach-captain duo of Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli had a fun conversation after the conclusion of the final ODI between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Virat Kohli ends Australia tour with a brilliant performance
The 36-year-old made a very poor start to Australia’s 2025 tour of India as he got out for two consecutive ducks in the first two matches of the ODI series.
In Perth, Kohli was out for a duck trying to play a drive outside the off-stump off Mitchell Starc as the ball took the edge of his bat and into the hands of Cooper Connolly and in the second ODI, he was out LBW by Xavier Bartlett.
Kohli’s dismissal stunned the cricket world as it was the first time in his great ODI career that he was out for ducks in two consecutive matches.
However, the right-handed batsman ensured a great end to his Australia tour at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He was out on the very first ball and remained unbeaten till the end. Virat Kohli scored 74* runs in 81 balls with the help of 7 fours and made a match-winning partnership of 168 runs with Rohit Sharma.
Two ducks came out of the pond – Ravi Shastri trolled Virat Kohli
After the conclusion of the Sydney ODI, Ravi Shastri, who was performing broadcasting duties along with Adam Gilchrist, raised the issue of Kohli’s consecutive dismissals with Rohit Sharma.
Ravi Shastri, former head coach of the Indian national cricket team, said, “Two ducks came out of the pond. Finally the ducks came out.”
“To be honest, it’s good to be out across the pond. Well, you know, I’m kind of lost. You score a lot of runs in international cricket, but the game shows you everything, even at this level. Almost 37 in very few days and still can feel like not knowing how to score runs.
“I mean, this game is amazing. That’s why we love batting, we love batting. And it’s very challenging when it’s not going your way, and just getting your rhythm again. Of course, going out there, having a situation to play in, is always something that always brings out the best in me,” Virat Kohli replied.
Meanwhile, Kohli further said that he enjoys batting with Rohit Sharma as they understand each other’s game very well.
Kohli said, “When Rohit is already batting there, it is quite easy to rotate the strike. We understand each other’s game very well. So, it is really good for us to have a big partnership and another match-winning partnership.”
