Indian leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi has said that he does not want to be seen as a comeback player and his aim is to remain in the Indian team for a long time. After missing out on selection for three consecutive T20 World Cup campaigns, Bishnoi is determined to cement his place in the team during the upcoming events.

Selectors have selected Bishnoi for Ireland and England tourAlso Asian Games. He last played a T20 match for India on January 28, 2026, against New Zealand. Bishnoi will compete for a spot with Varun Chakravarthy, while Axar Patel and Washington Sundar also provide spin-bowling options.
Playing World Cup is everyone’s dream – Ravi Bishnoi
Speaking to PTI, Ravi Bishnoi shared his thoughts on being left out of several T20 World Cup squads. He said that winning the World Cup is the dream of every cricketer including him. However, he said he was determined to make the most of the opportunities in the upcoming matches.

“Playing in the World Cup is everyone’s dream. To win it. It is my dream too. Even though I have missed the World Cup, I have more opportunities. So I will try not to miss this time. I should make it count. And when you miss, it is not like suddenly someone is playing in my place. But India won the World Cup. Whoever plays in my place, he did really well.”
Despite limited opportunities, Bishnoi has compiled an impressive record in T20I cricket. The 24-year-old player has taken 64 wickets in 44 matches at an average of 19.52 and an economy rate of 7.41.
I have only one goal in life – Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi credited his family and coach Shahrukh for helping him deal with the difficult phase of his career. He said disappointment is natural, but players must move forward and remain focused on future opportunities.

“You know how good the competition is going on in the Indian team at the moment. It is competitive. There is only one goal in my life. When I get a chance, I should be ready and present myself. Then I should not regret that I did not get that chance.”
“It’s a bit difficult because you want to play in the World Cup. The World Cup was at home this time. But that’s the game, ups and downs are part of it. That’s why we choose the game. It teaches you how to bounce back and pick yourself up in these tough times.”
“My parents are there. My coaches are always with me. Shahrukh bhai and others. They have been like pillars for me. They always say, this time or next time. It is human to feel bad. Everyone feels bad. But it should not take long to move on. That is my mindset. Because if you feel bad for a long time, it affects your performance. And you are not able to concentrate on your game.”
Ravi Bishnoi leads India back despite tough IPL 2026 campaign
Ravi Bishnoi has played one ODI match for India, in which he took one wicket for 69 runs. He also reached a major career milestone in December 2023 when he became the No. 1 bowler in the ICC men’s T20I rankings.
Bishnoi’s return to the Indian team after a difficult IPL season was not easy. The leg spinner spent the entire second half of the tournament on the bench, while youngster Yashraj Punja was given priority ahead of him.
Despite those setbacks, the selectors included Bishnoi in the squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England. He was selected over Kuldeep Yadav, which shows that the team management still has confidence in his abilities.
