Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif made a cryptic comment about PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi following the Men in Green’s exit from the T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan failed to reach the semi-finals for the second consecutive edition after securing just one win in the Super 8 stage against Sri Lanka.
Pakistan cricket has been in the grip of politics for a long time, where finding scapegoats is common. Meanwhile, the PCB is reportedly set to appoint former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as the youngest Test head coach in the country’s history. The 38-year-old cricketer has been offered the role of leading Pakistan’s red-ball team.
If we speak the truth we will not be saved – Rashid Latif on Mohsin Naqvi
During a recent television show, the panel discussed whether PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s busy schedule was a valid excuse to ignore Pakistan cricket. When asked to comment on the situation, Rashid Latif gave a cryptic and serious warning rather than a direct answer.
Rashid Latif avoided commenting directly on the chairman, saying, ‘You may get away with it, but if we tell the truth, we will not get away with it.’
This comment indicates political pressure and lack of transparency on the cricket board. The host, Tabish Hashmi immediately pointed out the irony of the situation, saying, “Even you (Rashid Latif) will not be spared after making this comment.”
Question: Is Mohsin Naqvi being busy a valid excuse for not paying attention to Pakistan cricket when he wants the best?
Rashid Latif: “You will be saved, we will not be saved, if we tell the truth.”
Tabish: “Whatever you have said, you will not escape from it.” ??? pic.twitter.com/qryGQok1ZJ

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi meets Salman Aga and Shaheen Afridi
Salman Agha’s position as captain is under threat in a big way after consecutive failures in the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup 2026. His individual batting performance during the World Cup was also poor.
According to Geo News, Mohsin Naqvi held separate meetings with men’s T20 captain Salman Aga and ODI captain Shaheen Afridi on Wednesday. Aga provided a review of the team’s poor T20 World Cup campaign, where they failed to reach the last four.
During the meeting with Afridi, Naqvi discussed the team for the upcoming three-match ODI series in Bangladesh. There are no big names like Babar Azam and Sam Ayub in the final team. He was dropped after his recent struggles in the T20 World Cup 2026.
Pakistan out of T20 World Cup 2026 after losing semi-final spot
Pakistan faced a disappointing campaign in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The team failed to reach the semi-finals and were eliminated after only managing to defeat one full member nation during the entire tournament.
The team had to face a crushing defeat from India in the group stage. However, they managed to reach the Super 8. The Men in Green suffered a defeat against England which spoiled their chances of progressing to the knockout stage.
While Pakistan managed to defeat Sri Lanka in their final Super 8 game, the result was not enough to seal a place in the semi-finals. New Zealand had a better net run rate than Pakistan to reach the semi-finals.
