Gujarat Titans (GT) leg spinner Rashid Khan recently made fun of Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja through a humorous social media video after the IPL clash between the two teams. The Afghanistan spinner recreated Jadeja’s famous “empty pocket” celebration, which went viral on social media.
On Saturday, May 9, Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals by 77 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Rajasthan Royals stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal won the toss and elected to field first. Gujarat Titans scored a massive score of 229/4 in 20 overs and then bowled out Rajasthan Royals for 152 runs in 16.3 overs.

After the dominant win, Gujarat Titans shared a playful social media video in which Rashid Khan is seen emptying his pockets while celebrating. The gesture appeared to be a humorous response to Ravindra Jadeja’s earlier “player in the pocket” celebration during the match.
Jadeja celebrates after dismissing Jos Buttler during Gujarat Titans’ innings. The experienced all-rounder bowled an attractive ball outside the off stump, forcing Buttler to play the wrong shot. After the wicket, Jadeja put his hand in his pocket in a new form of his famous sword celebration.
While Jadeja’s body language during the first innings caught the attention, Rashid Khan produced a match-winning performance with the ball and later responded with his light-hearted celebrations after Gujarat Titans’ comfortable win.

It was something unusual for me – Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan made headlines with his brilliant match-winning spell. The leg spinner, who won the Player of the Match award, talked about rediscovering his rhythm after battling physical fitness issues in the last two seasons.
“Very happy. It was something unusual for me (in the last two seasons). This season, it’s all about enjoying myself and hitting the ball in the right areas consistently. Happy with it (so far),” Rashid said after the match.
Rashid took 4 wickets for 33 runs in his four overs. Earlier in the match, Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill gave a strong start to Gujarat Titans by making an opening partnership of 118 runs in just 65 balls. Before getting out, Sudarshan scored 55 runs in 36 balls.
It took me only two months to come back – Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan admitted that his early return from surgery affected his bowling rhythm and consistency. The spinner revealed that taking a long break after last season helped him improve his fitness and gain confidence with the ball.
“When I had the surgery, it took me only two months to come back. At that time, I made a huge mistake (of coming back early). Last year, when the IPL was over, I took 2-3 months off and tried to work on my fitness. As soon as I bowled the first ball, I knew there was something for me. The pace was something I was trying to mix.”
After this victory, Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans have reached second place in the points table of 10 teams. Gujarat Titans have registered seven wins from 11 matches with 14 points and a net run rate of +0.228. Their next match will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on 12th May.
