Rashid scored 20 runs off 11 balls including 11 balls and one six before being dismissed in the 19th over. Afghanistan needed 23 runs from the final 10 balls, but Bangladesh’s total 154 runs have been reduced by eight runs.
Rashid Khan took 2 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs
Bangladesh chose to bat first in his win-win match at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Openers Tanjid Hasan and Saif Hasan gave him a flying start, with 63 runs for the first wicket in 6.4 overs. Tanjid scored 52 runs out of 31 balls with four borders and three sixes, while Saif scored 30 off 28 balls.
However, Afghanistan bowlers pulled back the game after playing power. Rashid Khan dismissed Saif and broke the initial stand. He later removed Shamim Hussain. Rashid ended with impressive figures of 2 for 26 in his four overs.
Noor Ahmed also pasted with two wickets, and Azmatullah Omrajai took a wicket for 19 runs. His disciplined bowling stopped Bangladesh’s speed after his flight began and stopped the batsmen from freeing their arms.
We played some irresponsible shots – Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan said that his team failed to play his natural attacker game and allowed pressure instead. He criticized the batting unit for playing careless shots in important moments. He said that defeat provided important lessons for Afghanistan before the final group match.
Khan said, “We were in the game till the end, but could not finish it. We have not played for 30 runs in 18 balls. We have not played the types of cricket – we are attacking cricket. We let us put a lot of pressure on ourselves,” Khan said.
“The way we came back with the ball to ban them under 160, it was special, but with batting we played some non -responsible shots. Sometimes in T20 sometimes the opposition takes the game away in the first six overs, but then you have to come back. I have to come back. Learning a lot for us from this game.”
