Ramiz Raja mocks Babar Azam with “drama karega yeh” comment during Pakistan vs South Africa 1st Test

Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja mercilessly mocked star batsman Babar Azam during the first Test against South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The incident occurred on the first day of Pakistan’s first innings (Sunday, 12 October) when Babar was given out by on-field umpire Senuran Muthusamy.

Babar returned to the Pakistan lineup after almost two months. He struggled again in the first innings of the Test against South Africa in Lahore. The right-handed batsman started well, but was ultimately thwarted by Proteas spinner Simon Harmer and failed to make a notable impact.

When Pakistan was in a strong position at 163/2 against South Africa, Babar Azam came to the crease at number four. On the first ball of the 49th over, the umpire gave the batsman out early, with the fielders claiming the ball was taking an edge.

Babar opted for a review, and the decision was overturned as the UltraEdge showed no contact between bat and ball, allowing him to continue his innings.

During the review, Ramiz Raja, who was on the commentary panel, said that there would be drama if Babar got out and the clip caught the attention of the cricket community. He said, “It will be out, it will create drama.”

Babar Azam failed to convert his good start into a big score

Babar Azam started his innings with beautiful strokes against the South African attack. After a good start, he started to slow down and adopt a more cautious approach, which helped the bowlers regain control.

Simon Harmer bowled a cleverly tossed ball. Babar attempted a simple flick but missed it completely and the ball hit his pads. The on-field umpire declared him not out, which gave Pakistan temporary relief.

Visitors opted to review the decision by sending a call above. The TV umpire checked the delivery, and found no ultra edge. Babar was declared LBW, leaving him stunned and dejected as he returned to the pavilion.

Babar Azam becomes first Asian cricketer to reach 3,000 runs in WTC

Babar Azam became the first Asian cricketer to reach 3,000 runs in the World Test Championship (WTC). He needed only two runs to achieve this feat and he achieved it by hitting a four off Senuran Muthusamy in the 49th over.

Before Babar, only four Australians – Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head and Usman Khawaja – and three Englishmen – Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Jack Crawley – had crossed the 3,000-run mark in the WTC.

Among Pakistani players, Mohammad Rizwan has crossed the 2,000-run mark in 37 matches, while Test captain Shan Masood has 1,663 runs in 28 matches.

Among Asian batsmen, Indian captain Shubman Gill is closest to the milestone with 2,826 runs in 71 innings. Gill, who scored unbeaten 129 in India’s ongoing second Test against West Indies in Delhi, is close to 3,000 WTC runs.
