Bangladesh shook Pakistan in the 2-match test series. Tiger Brigade defeated the visiting Pakistan cricket team in both the matches. The Man in Green finds himself at odds again and facing many unanswered questions. Former international cricketer Rameez Raja is angry with the performance of Pakistan cricket team.
He blamed captain Shan Masood as well as the entire selection process for the 0-2 result. The former cricketer admitted that changes were needed to get the team back on the right track.
Rameez Raja blames Pakistani captain for poor result against Bangladesh
Ramiz Raja explains that the team remains in a bad position due to repeating the same mistakes again and again.
“We have to bring some changes. How many times will you come back? How many times will you stand up again? Because the mistakes are the same. The problem with Shahan Masood is the way he chooses the playing 11, I can’t see how he will win,” Raja expressed his concern.
The 63-year-old also raised questions on the team’s strategy when they were chasing the target in the second innings at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. To win the match and level the 2-match Test series, Pakistan had to score 437 runs in the second innings. Shan Masood, Salman Ali Aga, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam added important runs to the scoreboard.
Lack of team performance?
Rizwan also played an inning of 94 runs. Despite all efforts, Bangladesh won the match by 78 runs. The former cricketer claims that the batsmen might have performed like this for personal reasons, not because of the team.
When Rizwan was in the middle, the tail-enders were often exposed and Bangladesh’s bowlers took advantage of the opportunity. King believes that the lack of a clear strategy led to the late collapse.
“But if I am the captain, I will see who will be my match-winner. Who will be ahead of Shanto? Or who will bat well against Nahid Rana? For example, when Rizwan was batting, he was playing with the tail-enders. It felt like it was his individual plan. Protecting the tail-enders is not the team plan,” said Ramiz Raja.
Ramiz Raja advised PCB to take a break
Ramiz Raja further believes that the Mohsin Naqvi-led Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should take a break to make a new plan to improve the team.
“Look at the situation. What’s wrong? Is it because of the batsmen? Is it because of the bowlers? Or is it because of the captain? Which players do you have on the bench? Are they being used or not? What is the atmosphere? What is the environment? Are the players working at an individual level or at a collective level? And are the big names giving you results or not? And how long do you have to play them?” Former cricketer raised many questions on PCB
