Mahela Jayawardene reveals Jasprit Bumrah played IPL 2026 despite injury
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene recently revealed that Jasprit Bumrah had suffered a minor injury in the run-up to the T20 World Cup and IPL 2026, which affected his rhythm and intensity despite Mumbai Indians giving him adequate rest.
As a result, Bumrah was able to take only four wickets in 13 matches this season. The fast bowler was also rested for the upcoming one-off Test and three-match ODI series against Afghanistan at home.
“It’s a combination of a few things. He had a bit of a niggle coming back from the T20 World Cup which he played with throughout the World Cup, so we gave him enough rest to get back,” Mahela Jayawardene said at the press conference.
