Captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Rajat Patidar has distracted everyone with its choice of a short but interesting rapid-fire segment amid the ongoing IPL 2024. Most of Rajat Patidar’s answers were expected, but one of his choices surprised many.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore captain had to choose the best captain ever in the Indian Premier League, and he did not choose Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni or his former captain Virat Kohli.
Rajat Patidar’s Captain Pic shocked fans
When Rajat Patidar was asked on Cricbuzz about the best IPL captain, he ignored both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli and named Rohit Sharma. Although both Rohit and Dhoni won five IPL titles as captains, the RCB skipper went with the former Mumbai Indians skipper.

Rohit created one of the greatest captaincy stories in IPL history with his calm, strategic and collaborative approach. They won all five of their titles (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020) in just ten years. No captain before him had reached five trophies with the same team, although Dhoni later joined them in 2024.
Talking about Dhoni, the former Indian captain holds the record of captaining the most number of matches and registering the most wins in IPL history. Under his leadership, CSK won five titles. In the 14 seasons he led CSK, Dhoni took them to the playoffs 12 times and reached the finals on 10 occasions.
With a win rate of 60.37% for CSK, he is the most successful captain in IPL history. On the other hand, Virat Kohli Led RCB in the IPL from 2013 to 2021 and led them to the final in the 2016 season. But they won the first trophy under Patidar’s captaincy in 2025.
Virat Kohli was chosen the best batsman; Faf du Plessis was chosen the best fielder
Meanwhile, Rajat Patidar picked Kohli as the best batsman due to the consistency he has shown in the IPL season. The former RCB captain remains the IPL’s all-time leading run-scorer with over 8,600 runs.
Again, Rajat Patidar picks the South African star Faf du Plessis As the best fielder for his athletic skills. He is known for his spectacular running backwards catches and incredible one-handed catches near the boundary line.
Du Plessis is considered one of the best fielders the game has ever seen. He is one of the top players with most catches (85) in the IPL and is probably the most reliable man at long-off and extra cover.
Eden Garden of Kolkata is the favorite ground of Patidars. The atmosphere, huge crowds and the historic feel make it a special place for many players and the Madhya Pradesh batsman is one of them.
Rajat Patidar is a fan of Kohli’s cover drive; Choose the best bowler and finisher
When the RCB captain was asked to choose the best cover drive player, he immediately chose Kohli. Like many others, Patidar is also a fan of Kohli’s signature stroke, the way he executes it perfectly with elegance and class.

After this he chose the great South African fast bowler Dale Steyn as the best fast bowler. Steyn’s pace, aggression and swing made him one of the most feared bowlers to face in his prime. Sunil Narine was Patidar’s choice for the best spinner. With his unreadable variations and control, Narine continues to dominate the T20 world.
For the best finisher, Patidar once again ignored Dhoni, choosing his former RCB teammate AB de Villiers because of his fearless hitting. As expected, Jasprit Bumrah won the title as a death overs specialist, with Rajat praising the Indian fast bowler’s yorkers and composure in difficult situations.
Among teammates, Patidar said that Kohli is the best-dressed player in the team. Kohli’s fashion sense has always been on top, so it was an easy choice for him. When it came to having the best music taste, Patidar shared that Phil Salt has great music taste, and Romario Shepherd also has great playlists. Lastly, Patidar picked RCB’s 2025 title run as his best IPL moment.
