IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals has started reconsidering the trade of Sanju Samson with his former franchise, Delhi Capitals. It is reported that they have asked for uncapped players including Tristan Stubbs.
The IPL mini-auction will be held in mid-December between December 13 and 15. The retention lists are to be announced by November 15, and hence, trading and negotiations between the franchises are in full swing.
Sanju Samson has been a frequent target of many franchises, including Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and later Delhi Capitals. It was reported that the Capitals could be the team that is the frontrunner to clinch the deal.
There has been a big hurdle in Sanju Samson’s trade deal.
Last week, TOI reports suggested that Sanju Samson is likely to be a part of the trade between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. The Capitals have to bring in their former player, and the Royals have to break ties with their captain.
Earlier, 5-time champion Chennai Super Kings was also involved in such talks. CSK were interested in having a wicket-keeper batsman as well as a top-order batsman who has some experience to lead alongside captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, the unreasonable demands of the Royals could not be met by CSK and hence, the deal was sidelined.
A similar scenario has also arisen with Delhi Capitals, when Rajasthan Royals did not seem satisfied with Tristan Stubbs as a trade deal, but demanded another uncapped Indian player in return.
Rajasthan Royals are looking for a great uncapped player
As the Royals are reported to have requested for another uncapped Indian player from Delhi Capitals. He has reportedly cited three key names from the Capitals team.
The first name in this list is all-rounder spinner Vipraj Nigam, while the other two players are Sameer Rizvi and Abhishek Porel, who are also in demand in the middle order of the Capitals.
The Royals have asked for one of these three players; However, the Capitals have yet to confirm any such reports or their decision to release any players.
Why is Vipraraj Nigam important for Rajasthan Royals?
Delhi Capitals’ important all-rounder Vipraj Nigam emerged as a good finisher in the death overs. Despite the presence of captain Axar Patel, he was also their leading spinner along with Kuldeep Yadav.
Nigam took big wickets like Virat Kohli and gained fame with some dominance. Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, lack specialist spinners like Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin. Hasaranga played as the main spinner but could not produce good enough results.
Instead Vipraj Nigam could be their new lead spinner and all-rounder in the lower order. He could help solve Royals’ problems during the death overs, as they could not win many important chases during the final overs.
