A big update came out a few days before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026). The league’s first champion Rajasthan Royals has got a new owner.
A consortium led by US-based entrepreneur Kal Somani has won the bid to own the Rajasthan Royals franchise, reports The Times of India. Somani is a well-known face in the international business arena as he is backed by Rob Walton of the American Walmart family and the Hamp family, which also owns a majority stake in the NFL’s Detroit Lions.
How much money did the new owner spend to buy Rajasthan Royals?
The report also suggested that the current owners of Rajasthan Royals were trying to sell the franchise. If reports are to be believed, US-based entrepreneur Kal Somani won the bid to claim the franchise for around $1.63 billion (£1.2 billion).
