Anvay Dravid, younger son of Indian cricket legend Rahul Dravid, has been selected in one of the four teams for the Men’s U19 One-Day Challenger Trophy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Anvay will represent Team C in the tournament, which is an important platform for budding cricketers.

Notably, the Challenger Trophy is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad from November 5 to 11. The BCCI organizes the tournament every year, and this year’s edition holds added significance. India’s young talent could impress the selectors ahead of the U19 World Cup to be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia in 2026.

Anvay Dravid has been named in Team C for the upcoming tournament. He has been included along with fellow Karnataka Under-19 player Manikant Shivanand. The team will be captained by Aaron George and will play its first match on Friday, November 7 against Team B led by Vedant Trivedi.

“The Junior Selection Committee has selected the teams for the upcoming IDFC First Bank Men’s U19 One-Day Challenger Trophy to be played in Hyderabad from November 5 to 11, 2025,” the BCCI said in an official release on Tuesday.

Anvay’s elder brother Samit Dravid has also followed his father’s footsteps. He was named in the India Under-19 squad for the bilateral series against Australia held in Pondicherry and Chennai in 2024, but was absent from the fixtures due to injury.

Anvay Dravid was last seen in action for Karnataka during the Vinoo Mankad Trophy

Anvay Dravid has emerged as one of the most promising young talents of the state. The 17-year-old top-order batsman came into limelight during the Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16), where he topped the run chart with 459 runs in six matches.

Under Anvay’s captaincy, Karnataka reached the quarter-finals in the recently concluded Vinoo Mankad Trophy. The team achieved four wins in the group stage before losing to eventual champions Hyderabad.

He scored 220 runs in six matches, including an unbeaten 82 against Himachal Pradesh, which helped his team chase 236 runs.Anvay also scored 63 runs in 75 balls in the group-stage match against Chandigarh.
