Shubman Gill was designated as the new OD skipper, who later took Rohit Sharma to the hull despite being present in the squad. Another major talk that came out of squad selection was Ravindra Jadeja’s snub.

The senior all-rounder does not find a place in the squad as the selection committee has decided to choose Exer Patel, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav as three spin-billing options.

Exer Patel is an important member of the Indian batting unit in the ODI setup, and his sensational left-handed spin-bouling gives him an edge. It is likely to be a part of India’s early XI in Australia.

However, the absence of Ravindra Jadeja surprised many as he was part of India’s last ODI assignment – ICC Champions Trophy 2025 – and played an important role in Vijay.

Justifying his non-selection, Ajit Agkar said that he could take only one left-hand spin-spin-bouling all-rounder for the Australia Tour; Therefore, Exer Patel overtook Jadeja. Agarkar also clarified that Jadeja remains in its plans for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.

“Right now, we can only take a left-handed spinner for the Australia series. It was not possible to fit in two. Ravindra Jadeja is exactly in our plans-every one knows how good he is and what he offers as an all-rounder and a fielder,” Agkar said in a press conference.

But for this small chain, we wanted to maintain balance – Ajit Agkar

Agarkar further stated that he wanted to maintain a balance in the squad for a small chain in Australia, and it was possible only in Jadeja’s absence. He said:

“But for this short chain, we wanted to maintain balance with Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav in the squad.”

The BCCI said that the quality of Jadeja is undisputed and is part of the plans for future ODI Games. He said:

“This is a small chain – you can’t fit all,” Agarkar explained. The quality of Jadeja is undisputed. He is very part of our plans. ,

Ravindra Jadeja Bags Player of the match in 1 Test vs. West Indies

The day Rabindra Jadeja was snatched away from India squad for Australia Odis, he won the Player of the Match Award for his bravery against the West Indies in 1 Test.

He slammed a sensational century and followed him with a four -wicket race. Speaking after winning the Player of the Match Award, he said that he was working hard on his batting. He said:

“Yes, I am working hard with my batting. We had two months exemption, there was no Test cricket or ODI. I was working on my fitness and I went to Excellence of Excellence in Bangalore, worked on my skills and fitness there.

“Yes, exactly (as my recent batting). I was batting at number 8 and 9 a few years ago, but now I got my place at the age of 6. I have time to prepare myself and I can give speed to my innings. I don’t need to hurry up, I do not have to run unnecessarily. I can go there, I can take my time and just take my innings.”
