R Ashwin has brought Kuldeep Yadav into limelight for ignoring him in marriage.

Just before the start of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, former India spin wizard R Ashwin joked that he was not invited to Kuldeep Yadav’s grand wedding or reception, which took place after the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He also mentioned that he would not be invited in the future either, as such events are usually for close friends and family.

Kuldeep Yadav and R Ashwin have been part of the Indian national cricket team for a long time. As one of the senior players, Ashwin drew on his experience to consistently pick up important wickets, while the chinaman bowler used his economical spells to stem the flow of runs in the middle overs.

However, R Ashwin retired after playing his final season for Chennai Super Kings last year. It will be interesting to see how Kuldeep impresses the selectors with his conservative bowling, especially after his stellar performance for Delhi Capitals last season, where he became his side’s leading wicket-taker.

Big names attended Kuldeep’s wedding!

Kuldeep tied the knot with his long-term partner Vanshika Singh in a lavish wedding in Mussoorie on March 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, just a week after India’s win over New Zealand in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The wedding was attended by top celebrities as well as national and international cricketers. One notable attendee seen in the video was Yuzvendra Chahal, who is often considered one of Kuldeep’s close friends.

Many Indian players were also seen along with Chahal, like Tilak Verma and Rinku Singh. After the wedding, a huge reception was also held, which was attended by many politicians and former cricketers including Shikhar Dhawan, Ravindra Jadeja, Indian coach Gautam Gambhir and others.

What did R Ashwin say?

During a conversation on his YouTube channel matter of luxuryWhen he was asked why he did not attend Kuldeep Yadav’s wedding or reception, he jokingly said, “You weren’t invited for the wedding.” – Meaning, “He didn’t invite me to his wedding.” Moving on, legendary spinner R Ashwin backed Kuldeep for the upcoming IPL season, even though he sat on the bench with Mohammed Siraj in the concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup:

“Last year, the way he bowled in the IPL, it was almost as if he had the ball on a rope. He bowled where he wanted. He had confidence and rhythm. Lately, he has not played much for India. Sometimes he played and did well; in other games, he struggled a bit. I want to see his mentality and rhythm. But knowing Kuldeep, he will get into rhythm and will be a very important point of difference for Delhi.”

R Ashwin also talked about Axar Patel’s captaincy

After an impressive performance as captain for Delhi Capitals last year, Axar Patel is all set to remain in the 2026 edition. Last year, under his leadership, Delhi had won four consecutive matches. However, they failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Pointing towards this, R Ashwin said: “It is too early to evaluate Akshar as a captain. Last year, I think it was a bit tough. There was also an injury. They lost a game against Mumbai, which they should have won. That game changed because of a run out and revived Mumbai’s campaign. Akshar is a calm personality. He doesn’t take much stress. I can’t say much about him as a captain, but if you put too much pressure on him, So you won’t be able to progress naturally. The talent that Axar brings to the dressing room, according to me, he is in a very good place in his life – as a batsman, as a bowler, in everything.”

Delhi will play its first match of this season against Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Sports Stadium.
