“This may be a big statement to make it, but Akash Deep should have been honored with the match player. Shubman Gill batted beautifully, no amount of praise would be enough. Gill has made history, records and he has written it again, there is no doubt.”

“But everyone said and did, Akash Deep’s second innings and his four wickets in the first innings. Due to those four wickets, Siraj was able to get six wickets in the first innings. Akash was giving the ball to the deep ball from different angles with the same wrist position.

“I have no problem with the man of the match. I don’t buy the principle about the heroes. In an IPL match, Super Four, Super Six, Super 12s, fastest delivery you give all these awards. You can give them in Tests, as well as match bowlers and match batsmen.”

“Arshdeep Singh performs in the IPL, rotates the ball in white-ball cricket, but keep in mind that the performance of Akash Deep in first-class cricket. Look at his impact in Edgbaston. His effect is such that he is producing a false shot percentage of 22.8%.

“In a span of 40 overs, he has clearly gone to a high economy rate, England have tried to pick it up. England, all-in-all, are trapped.”
