Quinton de Kock’s heartfelt effort went in vain. He covered a lot of ground to take a brilliant catch. But in the end it was a missed catch. After running near the boundary rope, the wicketkeeper from the keeping spot threw his body in the air to catch the ball. Had he been successful in taking the catch, South Africa could have dismissed New Zealand opener Finn Allen early in the second innings.
Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada was expecting a surprise match. But the ball bounced off De Kock’s fingers and came back. The incident occurred in the second over of the second innings of the first semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
