Punjab Kings (PBKS) mercilessly mocked Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the game at the Eden Gardens got abandoned due to rain and storm. As per Indian Premier League rules, both the participating teams shared one point each when the game was cancelled.
After the official confirmation of the cancellation of the game, Punjab Kings shared a hilarious post on the social media platform from their official social media account.
Punjab Kings directly made fun of Kolkata Knight Riders
Along with a picture of the covered Eden Gardens, the franchise said that it was painful because it was not raining as now they have to cheer for a point. One line on the social media post read, “1 point gone in water (1 point washed away)”.

This was a direct mockery of the home team, Kolkata Knight Riders, who is not in significant form so far in the ongoing IPL 2026 and has lost two consecutive matches.
Before facing PBKS tonight, the multiple-time IPL winners had zero points as they are yet to register a win. Now due to the match being washed out due to rain, KKR opened their account with 1 point and Punjab also got one point as per the rules.
Undefeated Punjab Kings top IPL 2026 points table
It is clear from the social media posts that they were confident of getting all the points by defeating Shreyas Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders in their away match.
Former KKR captain Iyer, who has led the team to success in the past, knows the field well. With an extra point from today’s match, Punjab Kings currently top the points table with 5 points from 3 matches. With two wins, they are currently undefeated in the competition.
Many surprising decisions of KKR in PBKS match
The match had to be stopped due to rain after the fourth ball of the fourth over of the first innings. After winning the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders came out to bat first. Ajinkya Rahane’s decision to bat first surprised many cricket pundits because traditionally, teams prefer to field first when conditions are not favorable for the batsmen. Due to bad weather it became difficult for the batsmen to perform.
KKR lost its first wicket in the form of one of its openers, Finn Allen. Cameron Green also returned to the hut soon after New Zealand’s departure. Before the umpire gave the signal to stop the match, the home team had lost 2 wickets for only 25 runs.
Knight Riders made their playing combination without their top spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy. At the time of the toss, the KKR captain informed that Varun could not play the match due to injury and Narine was not in the playing eleven as he was not fit for the match. KKR came in with an inexperienced bowling line-up to clash with the energetic Punjab Kings.
