Maharashtra batsman Prithvi Shaw was seen having a heated argument with Mumbai’s Musheer Khan after the bowler made fun of him on the first day of the practice match between Maharashtra and his former team Mumbai. The unions have decided to call Dilip Vengsarkar to lead the investigation into the matter.
An almost physical incident involving Maharashtra batsman Prithvi Shaw and the Mumbai team’s part-time spinner left both the players mocked. This nasty altercation escalated to such an extent that Shaw swung his bat towards Musheer and almost caught him by the collar. The umpires had to rush in to intervene between the two players and ensure that the matter ended without anyone doing much harm.
Musheer Khan provoked Prithvi Shaw by saying ‘Thank you’ after getting out.
Prithvi Shaw was out for 181 runs off just 219 balls, while he also contributed to a huge triple century partnership with left-handed opener Arshin Kulkarni. He was out on the ball of off-spinner Musheer Khan.
Shaw was furious after Musheer Khan dismissed him and told him ‘thank you’. Then the flamboyant Maharashtra batsman lost his cool and had to approach the 20-year-old brother of Indian Test cricketer Sarfaraz Khan.
Prithvi Shaw is not untouched by controversies, as he has found himself in controversies several times since his debut for India in 2018. He has switched sides to domestic cricket in the hope of regaining form and regaining his place in the Indian Test team.
Mumbai Cricket Association has called Dilip Vengsarkar to investigate this confrontation.
If any wrongdoing is suspected or either player is found crossing the line, both Prithvi Shaw and Musheer could be in trouble. Therefore, none other than the ‘Colonel’ of Indian cricket Dilip Vengsarkar has been brought to investigate this matter.
“there will be a [Mumbai Ranji team] The selection committee meeting is on Thursday, so we will ask them – the Mumbai captain, coach and players – what happened.
Known for having a no-nonsense approach during his tenure as the chairman of the BCCI selection committee. Vengsarkar was described as the ideal person to handle the situation.
“We’ll get a report [of this incident] During our selection committee meeting, and former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, who is our advisor, will speak to [players]Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Abhay Hadap told Mid-Day.
Maharashtra Cricket Association will also have to adopt a similar approach to resolve this issue
While the Mumbai Cricket Association has already initiated measures to investigate the issue between the two players, the Maharashtra Association also needs to maintain transparency on the issue as a player associated with their association is also involved in it.
“I’m still waiting for the report [on the incident]I will get detailed information [about the incident] And if something comes to light, depending on the seriousness of the situation and considering the importance of discipline, we will talk to both the players. [Shaw and Musheer]“Discipline among players is a very important aspect,” advocate Kamlesh Pisal, secretary of the Maharashtra Cricket Association, told mid-day.
