Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra had to retire hurt and leave the field after suffering a serious blow in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final against Karnataka. While trying to stop Prasidh Krishna’s ball on the opening day of the summit clash, the right-handed batsman was hit by the ball on his collarbone.
Jammu and Kashmir won the toss and elected to bat first at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground in Hubli on Tuesday, February 24. However, the team lost the first wicket for 18 runs in 10.2 overs. Kamran Iqbal scored just 6 runs off 36 balls before being dismissed by Prasidh Krishna in the first innings of the match.
Paras Dogra forced to retire after suffering collarbone injury in Ranji Trophy final
Paras Dogra suffered a painful blow after being hit by a short ball. The ball hit his collarbone and he immediately showed signs of discomfort. The physio arrived on the field and Dogra had to undergo a mandatory concussion test.
When the ball hit his gloves, an ice pack was also applied to his right thumb. Dogra never looked comfortable after the hit. On the advice of head coach Ajay Sharma, he walked off the field as a precautionary measure and was declared retired hurt. His exit was a big blow for Jammu and Kashmir.
After Dogra left the field, Abdul Samad came in as the new batsman. During the current match, the captain scored 9 runs in 48 balls before leaving the field.

Shubham Pundir’s century, Jammu and Kashmir’s dominance in Ranji Trophy final
Jammu and Kashmir strengthened its position with strong partnership in between. Shubham Pundir and Abdul Samad kept the scoreboard going smoothly. Pundir looked in complete control and headed into the nervous nineties before the final hour of the day.
After this Pundir completed a memorable century in the Ranji Trophy final. The left-handed batsman carried his innings well and took advantage of the opportunity on the biggest stage of the domestic season and scored a composed century in the summit clash.
At the time of writing, Jammu and Kashmir’s score was 248/2 after 79 overs. Shubham Pundir remained unbeaten on 105 runs in 200 balls, while Abdul Samad supported him by scoring 28 runs in 40 balls. Prasidh Krishna took two wickets for 30 runs in 15 overs.

After winning the toss, Paras Dogra said that the pitch looks dry and turn may start after three or four days. He said that the team has kept things simple, focused on the fundamentals and felt that the conditions were in their favor.
Dogra also confirmed that the team was forced to make two changes. Jammu and Kashmir included Sahil Lotra and Qamran Iqbal in the playing eleven in place of Shubham Khajuria and Vanshaj Sharma for the final.
“We will bat first. The pitch looks dry and it may start turning after three or four days. We have kept everything simple and stuck to the basics and God is with us. There are two forced changes for us,” said Paras Dogra.
