Prabhsimran Singh impressed by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s batting, shared his experience

It would be a great opportunity to open the innings for the Indian national cricket team with Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Prabhsimran Singh said in Harare ahead of India vs Zimbabwe 1st T20 match.

Prabhsimran is the 15-year-old young sensation who is accompanying the Indian cricket team for the T20 series against Zimbabwe. Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his Team India debut during the recently concluded T20I series against England and will remain with the team for another overseas series.

Several opening batsmen are in contention to represent India in T20Is

In the presence of two other top-order batsmen, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, in India’s T20I squad for the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, Prabhsimran Singh’s chances of making his India debut remain uncertain.

Based on the current set-up and recent form, Abhishek Sharma is likely to retain the opening slot unless the team management decides to try out a new opening pair. If the management makes a new pairing without Abhishek Sharma, then Prabhsimran Singh along with Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a possible opening pair.

In another possibility, the opening pair could be between Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, with Prabhsimran Singh on the bench.

Prabhsimran Singh is on the verge of debut for the Indian national cricket team

Punjab Kings’ 24-year-old opening batsman Prabhsimran Singh, who scored more than 500 runs in two consecutive seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL), revealed that for a starting spot, there are many contenders, all of whom are eagerly waiting for a successful match for the Indian cricket team.

“There is so much competition for the opening spot in the Indian team and the only thing that comes to mind is, ‘Just give me a chance and if I get a chance, hopefully I will do well,'” Prabhasimran said while speaking on Geostar ahead of India’s first T20I against Zimbabwe.

Prabhsimran Singh shares his batting experience with Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Throwing some light on his relationship with Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the keeper-batsman mentioned that for the India A cricket team, they played together as opening batsmen. When the India A team was in Sri Lanka for a three-nation series, Prabhsimran and Vaibhav were the team’s opening batsmen.

Prabhasimran mentioned that since they have played together, they got to know more about each other’s approach to the game, and it was great to see the budding batsman in motion.

Prabhsimran Singh said, “Recently, we went to play the India A series against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan and Vaibhav was also there with me. It is so much fun to watch him bat; it gives a lot of joy. Since we were opening together, we got a chance to spend more time together and discuss various things. It was a great experience.”

All eyes will once again be on Vaibhav Suryavanshi as the teenager was not impressive for India during his first three matches in the last T2I series against England in England. Against the lower-ranked Zimbabwe cricket team, the left-handed batsman will definitely look to swing his bat to his true potential.
