Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Prabhsimran Singh opened up about the controversial incident between his teammate Arshdeep Singh and Mumbai Indians batsman Tilak Verma. A conversation between Arshdeep and Tilak went viral during the IPL 2026 season, sparking quite a controversy, with even calls for a ban on the Punjab Kings pacer.

Arshdeep Singh and Tilak Verma, who have played a lot of cricket together, share a healthy bond and understanding with each other. PBKS Seamer was regularly active on social media platforms during the last edition of the league.

Laxman Sivaramakrishnan asks BCCI to ban Arshdeep Singh

He uploaded many videos of other players in IPL. In one of his social media videos, Arshdeep Singh made a joke referring to the Mumbai batsman’s skin colour, which went viral on the social media platform.

While many cricket fans and followers considered the comments to be just a funny joke between two friends, some other fans on social media platforms accused the star pacer of racism. Former India cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to ban the left-arm fast bowler with immediate effect.

However, the board took no action against Arshdeep and the incident remains one of the most controversial off-field moments in the 2026 IPL campaign. Several weeks have passed since this video went viral, but some cricket fans remain interested in it.

Prabhasimran Singh clarified on all controversies

During an exclusive chat with InsideSport, the India A team batsman and PBKS opener clarified the situation regarding the incident. Prabhasimran mentioned that there was no ill intention behind his PBKS teammate Arshdeep calling Tilak Verma “andhere” (darkness) and Mumbai Indians’ other batsman Naman Dheer as “asli noor” (real shine).

Prabhsimran Singh told InsideSport, “They (Arshdeep Singh and Tilak Verma) are really good friends. They can do anything for each other. It also depends on us how we take personal things. Both of them have played so much cricket together, so people should leave it to them.”

Arshdeep became the cause of controversial moments many times during the last IPL season as his camera captured many candid shots and off-field moments. One of the videos features his Punjab-born Punjab Kings teammate Yuzvendra Chahal secretly vaping inside a plane.

The video went viral amid another secret hidden inside. Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag was seen vaping inside his dressing room during a live league match. A few days after the Parag incident, Chahal’s footage surfaced on social media platforms.

What happened to Arshdeep after the viral video?

There is no doubt that some of Arshdeep Singh’s videos did not go as planned, as they received a lot of negative feedback. Prabhsimran Singh mentions that despite the difficulties, Arshdeep Singh kept his character unchanged.

“No (Arshdeep was not impressed). The good thing about his character is that he remains the same through ups and downs. Everyone knows how hard-working he is. Now if you judge his cricket performance on the basis of events in his life, it would be wrong,” Prabhasimran said.
