Team India assistant coach Ryan Ten Dochet has left a sign for a change in XI playing for the upcoming second Test against England in Birmingham. Ten Dotk revealed that Nitish Kumar Reddy is “very close” to make it in the XI, saying that Washington Sundar is also in controversy.
Following India’s loss in the opening test, rest is being rested around Jasprit Bumrah for the next match starting on Wednesday, July 2 in Edgbaston. Meanwhile, cricket experts, including former Australia captain Michael Clarke, have supported the inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav in favor of India.
2 India to make full changes for testing
Nitish Kumar Reddy was posted near Slip Cordon along with Karun Nair, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill, while Sai Reformson took the street during the net session. Reddy also had a long batting session and leaned towards the end of the nets. However, Shardul Thakur did not bowl for the main batsmen in practice.

Thakur performed a great performance in the first Test in Leeds, which could cost him his place. He became wicket -free in the first innings, scored 38 runs in six overs, and returned 2/51 figures in the second. With bat, he scored just five runs in both innings.
On the other hand, Reddy has scored 298 runs on an average of 37.25 and has taken five wickets in nine innings. The young all-rounder made his Test debut against Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25.
Nitish Kumar Reddy is very close to getting a game – Ryan Ten Dotate
Speaking at a press conference, Ryan Ten Dotk saw Nitish Kumar Reddy as the team’s “premium batting all -rounder”. He revealed that the team opted for a bowling all -rounder in the first Test for India, but admitted that the management is now searching for options to bring the batting all -rounder.
“Nitish is very close to get a game. Obviously, he was fantastic in Australia. He was coming in the team and the way he did. We just felt on the balance for the previous game, we wanted to go with the bowling all-rounder, which we thought that Shardul was a little ahead on the bowling front,” Ten Dochet said.
He said, “We are looking at the ways to resume the puzzle so that we can get a batting all-rounder. And of course, Nitish is our premium batting all-rounder at the moment. So I would say that this is a very good chance to play this test.”
Very strong chance to play two spinners – Ryan Ten Dotk
Ryan Ten Dyscht said that India is likely to go with two spinners for a second test, but the final decision will depend on the balance of the side. He said that all the three spinners in the squad are doing well, there is a slight edge due to his batting contribution with Washington Sundar.
“Two spinners have a very strong opportunity to play. It is just two we play. The three spinners are bowling very well, while Vashi is batting very well. So what is it just about the combination. Do we go with an all-rounder spinner or a spinner? Then you have to play bowling all-rounder.
“So there are many different variables. At this time, 11 mm grass has been found on the wicket pitch, but it is quite dry, but also the rain forecast for Wednesday. So again, we are trying to attack two options. But I am sure that two spinners will play in this Test match.”
