The much-awaited IPL auction 2026 is going to take place this month. The auction is scheduled to take place on December 16 in UAE. While over 1300 players had registered for the auction, only 350 players have been shortlisted for the main event.
Out of 350 players, 240 are Indian and 110 are foreign players. There are 77 available slots to fill across all 10 IPL franchises. For the IPL auction, 40 players have registered themselves in the highest bracket of Rs 2 crore, while 9 players have registered in the Rs 1.5 crore slot.
Although the upcoming auction is not a mega auction, there is no dearth of excitement as the cricket world is once again eagerly waiting to see an intense bidding war for the players.

While many big names have registered themselves for the IPL auction, speculation is rife that Australia star Cameron Green is going to be the most expensive seller this year. Green is an excellent middle-order batsman and a very useful medium pace bowler.
All-rounders have always been in high demand in the IPL auction and Green is certainly one of the most sought-after all-rounders in the world at the moment.
He has further increased his chances of earning a lucrative IPL contract by simply registering himself in the auction as a batsman. The reason behind his move is that during the IPL auction, all-rounders and bowlers are auctioned before the batsmen in the first set. Since the upcoming auction is a small auction, all the franchises have a limited budget.
They will make every possible effort for big names from the beginning. And Green has increased his chances of earning a mega contract by registering as a batsman.
Cameron Green in IPL so far:
Green’s playing in IPL is not new. In fact, earning lucrative deals in the IPL auction is also not new to him. He earned his first IPL contract in the 2023 edition when Mumbai Indians acquired his services for Rs 17.5 crore. However, he was traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore for the same price a year later before missing out on the 2025 edition. In two IPL seasons, Green played 29 matches and scored 707 runs, including one century.
