Phil Salt’s brilliant catch turned the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Before Phil Salt’s brilliant fielding effort, Ishan Kishan was on 80 off just 38 balls. During the 16th over bowled by Abhinandan Singh, Kishan, who was looking towards a century, attempted to direct a full toss outside the off stump towards the boundary line.
As the ball flew into the air, Salt reacted immediately from point position. He raced to his right and took a brilliant one-handed catch at full stretch to dismiss Kishan and halt Sunrisers Hyderabad’s scoring momentum.
Royal Challengers Bangalore restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 201 runs for 9 wickets. The England opener took three catches in the match, which included the dismissals of Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen.
Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal chased
During the run chase, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the wicket of Phil Salt early in the innings. However, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal took things over and put pressure on the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling attack in the powerplay.
Devdutt Padikkal impressed the home crowd with his stroke play using good footwork and timing. The left-handed batsman completed his half-century in just 21 balls with a four off Harshal Patel, keeping Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the required run rate.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli kept the chase going with his drives and flicks against Jaydev Unadkat and Ishan Malinga. He made a strong start against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2026, leading Royal Challengers Bangalore to a comfortable win.
Padikkal scored 61 runs in 26 balls at a strike rate of 234.62, which included seven fours and four sixes. Kohli remained unbeaten after scoring 69 runs off 38 balls with five fours and five sixes. Rajat Patidar-led RCB will next face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home on Sunday, April 5.
