Sydney Sixers Playing XI vs Perth Scorchers – Qualifier, BBL 2025-26:

Openers: Babar Azam, Steve Smith

Following their impressive performance during their five-wicket win against the Melbourne Stars, the Sydney Sixers are entering the qualifiers desperate to make a strong comeback, especially with the bat. There will be pressure on the top order to perform when it matters most.

All eyes will be on Babar Azam, who had a forgettable last match scoring just one run, and will be keen to silence the critics with a match-defining performance against Perth Scorchers.

The good thing is that Steve Smith is in great form. With a brilliant century and then a brilliant half-century in his last two matches, fans will be hoping that the Australian batting superstar will once again emerge on the big stage and take charge of the Sixers in the Qualifiers.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Josh Philippe (wicketkeeper), Moises Henriques (captain), Jordan Silk, Lachlan Shaw, Jack Edwards.

Josh Philippe and Moises Henriques will have to step up and be at their best with the bat in the BBL 2025-26 Qualifier against Perth Scorchers, as Sydney Sixers will be without their in-form all-rounder Sam Curran, who has returned to national duty for the England-Sri Lanka series.

Jordan Silk is almost certain to replace Curran in the playing eleven and will aim to make an impressive comeback. Young batsman Lachlan Shaw and star all-rounder Jack Edwards will provide late firepower to help the Sixers with the bat against the Scorchers.

Bowlers: Joel Davis, Ben Dwarshuis, Sean Abbott, Mitchell Starc

The Sydney Sixers will be banking on a powerful bowling attack in the big game, with Mitchell Starc leading the attack. The left-arm fast bowler has made a strong comeback in the Big Bash League after a long gap and is looking hungry to take his team to the final.

Starc’s four wickets against Brisbane Heat have already sent a warning to the Scorchers. The Australian pace bowler will get solid support from Joel Davis, Ben Dwarshuis and Sean Abbott, giving the Sixers plenty of pace and variety. Jordan Silk adds another option to the mix.

The Sixers bowlers will have to attack early and be ahead from the first ball against Perth Scorchers’ strong batting lineup to keep the hosts under pressure.

Perth Scorchers Playing XI vs Sydney Sixers – Qualifier, BBL 2025-26:

Openers: Mitchell Marsh, Finn Allen

All eyes will be on Mitchell Marsh as Perth Scorchers go into the Qualifiers with everything at stake. The Australian T20 captain has been quiet in his last two matches and will be keen to put the doubts to rest with a big innings in the qualifiers. Despite the recent decline, Marsh remains one of the top run-scorers of the tournament with over 300 runs.

Along with Marsh, Finn Allen has also been unbeatable. The New Zealand star has scored 381 runs in just nine matches and is second in the run chart. Together, they will try to take Scorchers to the final on January 20.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Cooper Connolly, Aaron Hardie, Ashton Turner (captain), Laurie Evans (wicketkeeper), Nick Hobson.

Captain Ashton Turner (212 runs in 10 matches), Aaron Hardie (317 runs in 10 matches), and Nick Hobson (161 runs in 6 matches) will share the responsibility of scoring big runs in the middle order as the Scorchers aim to qualify for the BBL 15 final on Tuesday.

On the other hand, wicketkeeper-batsman Laurie Evans, who has been struggling with the bat, will aim to step up and contribute with the bat in the big game against the Sixers.

Bowlers: Jhay Richardson, Luke Holt, David Payne, Mahali Beardman

Talking about the bowling attack of Perth Scorchers, Jhye Richardson will lead the attack, who has regained his form by taking four wickets in their last game against Melbourne Stars. This responsibility will be shared by Cooper Connolly, David Payne and Mahali Beardman.

Connolly may not have scored big runs with the bat yet, but he has been in great form with the ball and would like to achieve big success against the Sixers once again. However, Luke Holt has had a mixed season; Payne and Beardman have been impressive in the league so far.
