In a major step after the Asia Cup 2025 controversy, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken strict action after learning about irregularities and poor quality team kits provided during the tournament. The board reportedly found serious lapses in transparency and quality control by its apparel partner.
The Pakistan Cricket Board, headed by Mohsin Naqvi, has decided to end its partnership with its existing apparel supplier after the controversial Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE, reports Pakistani journalist Qadir Khawaja. Notably, Pakistan lost the final of the Asia Cup 2025 to India in Dubai.

The PCB has now started the search for a new kit manufacturer to design new jerseys for all levels of Pakistan cricket including men’s, women’s, Under-19 and domestic teams. The board is considering a three-year or series-to-series agreement with the new vendor.
The final decision on the new official apparel partner is expected to be announced soon, as the Pakistan Cricket Board aims to ensure high-quality kits before the start of the upcoming international assignments. They are likely to finalize their new kit partner after the conclusion of the South Africa series.

Mohammad Rizwan refuses to sign PCB contract after demotion
Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket has been embroiled in another controversy as star wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has reportedly refused to sign his new central contract offered by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Rizwan, who was once part of the elite Category A, was surprisingly downgraded to Category B as the PCB made changes to its contract format.
According to PTI, Rizwan is the only player among the 30 contracted players who has refused to sign the deal after the board recently scrapped the top-tier Category A completely.

It is being said that Rizwan is not happy with both his demotion and his recent removal from the post of Pakistan’s ODI captain. The 33-year-old player made it clear that he will not sign the new deal unless the board reconsiders its structure and reinstates Category A for senior players.
He has also reportedly urged the PCB to give the team captain more freedom in decision making and demanded that the leader be allowed to work with full authority and without any interference. Shaheen Afridi was recently made the ODI captain of the Men in Green.
They are currently facing South Africa in a three-match T20I series. Pakistan has already lost the first T20 match and the second match is to be played in Lahore on October 31.
