PCB announces new central contract structure: Pakistan national cricket team is going through a lot of problems as they have failed to win against Bangladesh in recent times, losing the test series and then losing the ODI series as well. However, they won the ODI series against Australia after a loss against Bangladesh. Recently, Pakistan women’s team lost to India women’s national cricket team in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Now, on Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the new structure of central contracts for the men’s team, and the new contracts have been completely restructured. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the new structure at a press conference along with white-ball head coach Mike Hesson, national selector and high performance director Aaqib Javed and other top board members.
New category introduced in central contracts by PCB
The updated model replaces the previous A, B, C and D classification with a five-tier structure that classifies players based on their role, format expertise and stage of development. Since the team only has T20I players, it has been dropped into the lowest tier, which is Category D, along with domestic players and league players.

After this come ODI and T20I cricketers in BC category
Contract norms will be data-driven – Mohsin Naqvi
“We have designed a system where 85 per cent of the contract criteria will be data-driven, while the remaining 15 per cent will be at the discretion of the selection committee,” he said. The PCB chairman said the new structure has been put in place to address concerns related to player selection at the domestic level and create a more transparent process.
He said, “There were cases where players were not getting proper recognition at the domestic level. We hope that this entire process will now be transparent, and there should be no scope for objections on how contracts are given.”
