Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Mohsin Naqvi has responded after punishing Haris Rauf by the ICC to use controversial gestures during the Super Four Match against India. Naqvi, who is also the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), allegedly decided to pay the fine imposed on the fast bowler.
According to several reports, Rauf faced a deduction from his match fee to use the derogatory language on Sunday, 21 September. He attended a hearing with match referee Richie Richardson on Friday and argued “not guilty”. In particular, the ICC has not yet officially announced the punishment.
Mohsin Naqvi set to pay the ICC fine imposed on Haris Rauf
According to a report by Sama TV, Pakistan Cricket Board President Mohsin Naqvi decided to pay the fine imposed on Pesar Haris Rauf for his conduct during the Super Four match against India.
Haris Rauf was fined 30% of his match fees. He pointed out a controversial “6–0” towards Indian fans, referring to the unaware claims of six Indian fighter jets of Pakistan. He used derogatory language during the exchange of Indian players, which included Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson,
Haris Rauf earns 418,584 PKR per T20I match, and 30% of his fee is around 125,575 PKR (about 39,000 INR), which will be individually covered.
In particular, Naqvi first shared a Cristiano Ronaldo Meme “6–0” references, which attracted backlash from the cricket community.
Suryakumar Yadav punished by ICC ahead of Asia Cup 2025 final
Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan received an official warning from the match referee for his on-field festival. Farhan copied the gun after reaching half a century.
The BCCI formally filed a complaint with the ICC match referee Andy Picroft, claiming that Farhan and Haris Rauf crossed the line of accepted conduct during the game.
In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board filed complaints against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav for its remarks after the group-stage clash on 14 September. The PCB said that Yadav made political statements in the tournament.
The ICC reviewed the matter and determined that Suryakumar had violated the code of conduct.Suryakumar requested not to be guilty, but the match referee Richie Richardson dismissed his appeal. Reports also suggested that the PCB requested a level 4 approval, which is the most serious disciplinary action.
