Pakistan’s star spinner Abrar Ahmed has received approval from the Mohsin Naqvi-led Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play in the upcoming season of The Hundred.
Pakistani spinner will be seen playing for Sunrisers Leeds in the upcoming season. Kavya Maran’s Sunrisers Leeds secured the contract of the spin magician for a price of £190,000 (approximately Rs 2.34 crore) during the players auction.
Abrar Ahmed has got the green signal from PCB before The Hundred.
The signing of the spinner by the Indian franchise-owned team had attracted significant controversy on social media platforms. This was the first time in almost two decades that an IPL group-owned franchise secured the services of a Pakistani cricketer.
Despite criticism on social media platforms, Sunrisers stuck to their stand and refused to release Abrar Ahmed. However, the cricket world was curious to see if the PCB would allow him to play for an Indian-owned team. Ending all speculations, PCB has given the green signal to Ahmed before the tournament.
