Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Mohsin Naqvi has replied that the fast bowler Haris Rauf was fined 30% of his match fees for using the derogatory language during the Super 4 clash against India in the Asia Cup 2025. The PCB has allegedly announced the intention of appealing the decision on behalf of Pesar.
According to several reports, ICC punished for Rauf Using bad words during the game. On Friday, he attended an official hearing with ICC match referee Richie Richardson and argued “not guilty”. It is worth noting that the ICC has not yet issued an official statement about the punishment given to Rauf.
Haris Rauf punished by ICC ahead of Asia Cup 2025 final
During the September 21 Super Four match against India, Haris Rauf made a controversial gesture to the crowd, including “6–0” signs, which were associated with the rejected claims of down the Indian fighter jets down in Operation Sindor, Pakistan. He also copied a crashed aircraft during fielding.
Earlier in the match, Rauf was involved in a warm oral exchange with Indian batsmen Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma. He later used the derogatory language after rejecting wicketkeeper-son Sanju Samson. However, men in Green lost the match by six wickets in Dubai.
After the attack of Pahalgam terror in April, these matches were first clashed in India-Pakistan, followed by Operation Sindoor and three days across the border. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Aga both avoided handshuce before the toss in the Asia Cup Games.
Pakistan safe place in Asia Cup despite two defeats in 2025 finals
The BCCI on Wednesday filed an official complaint against Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for making provocative gestures during the Asia Cup.
Earlier, Pakistan had filed a complaint against India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav for dedicating Group-Charan victory to Pahalgam terrorist victims and Indian armed forces. Suryakumar was allegedly asked to avoid politically sensitive comments for the remaining tournament.
Pakistan lost both matches against India. However, he defeated Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the Super Four Stage to reach the finals, where he will meet India for the third time in the tournament in Dubai on 28 September. This will be the first Asia Cup final between the two archer.
PCB to appeal for Haris Rauf after ICC restrictions
According to Revsportz, the Pakistan Cricket Board is ready to appeal against the ICC approval on Rauf. The fast bowler was punished for his conduct during the Asia Cup match against India in Dubai, making the board motivated to take action on its behalf.
“Pakistan’s pacer was approved by the ICC after the ICC approved his works against India in Dubai on 21 September,” Revsports said.
