Since the appointment of Iyer as captain, there has been a strong change in the Punjab team. Vijaykumar Vaishya said this while talking to the media on Sunday Shreyas Iyer Consistently supports his bowlers regardless of their current form. The fast bowler said that the Punjab Kings captain keeps things simple and reminds the players that one match does not matter.
“I think he is someone who has always supported his bowlers and players. It doesn’t matter whether you are performing well or not, it is very important for a bowler,” Vishak replied to India Today’s question during a roundtable press meet.
“He has done very well in this format and is playing for India. I am sure he will become the Indian captain soon.”

Vijaykumar Vaishya revealed that Shreyas Iyer maintains a comfortable and even atmosphere in the dressing room. He said that the captain communicates with everyone including head coach Ricky Ponting and junior team members.
“He is someone who keeps the atmosphere very light. He talks to all the players in the same way, be it Ricky Ponting, me or anyone else,” Vishak said.
He explained, “It’s something that has made us more comfortable. I can go and talk to him anytime. I mean, his door is always open. He doesn’t close his door.”

Iyer was the leading run-scorer for Punjab Kings last season, scoring 604 runs in 17 innings at an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 175.07, which included six fifties.
