Punjab Kings (PBKS) will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 49 runs.th Match of the ongoing IPL 2026 season. There is still some speculation about PBKS star Shashank Singh before the match. Will he play against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium tomorrow (May 6)? This is a question before the match.
Shashank Singh missed some matches. It is reported that the veteran Punjab Kings cricketer is recovering from a hamstring injury, which he might have suffered during the Delhi Capitals match held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 25.

Will Shashank Singh play against SRH?
He has already missed a few matches and is doubtful for the SRH match as well. Ahead of the SRH vs PBKS match, Punjab Kings assistant coach Brad Haddin provided some important updates on Shashank’s fitness.
Haddin said that apart from Shashank, the rest of the team players are fully fit to face Sunrisers Hyderabad on foreign grounds. At present Shashank Singh is not confident about the game.
“It looks like Shashank will run today and do everything. That’s our only concern from a fitness point of view, now we have our entire squad available. And Shashank will have his last hit today, and hopefully it will be as we think,” the PBKS assistant coach said.

Singh made mistakes in fielding against Delhi Capitals
In a separate conversation, the cricketer himself gave some hints about his injury and fitness. He claimed that the injury would heal soon. But, there is no clear statement on when he will be able to return to the playing combination again for Punjab Kings.
However, fans are feeling something else behind the absence of Shashank Singh in some recent matches. During the match against Delhi Capitals, he dropped several important catches and made silly mistakes in the field. One of his big mistakes was to dismiss a sitter from KL Rahul, who registered a century later in the innings.
During the first innings of the match, when PBKS was fielding, Shashank Singh walked off the field after committing mistakes on the field. When he was on the dugout, sitting near head coach Ricky Ponting, he was seen pointing towards his hamstring area.
Shreyas Iyer called it a ‘forced’ change
At the toss of the Punjab Kings vs Rajasthan Royals match, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer mentioned Singh’s omission from the playing eleven as a forced replacement.
During the toss of the match, Iyer said, “We too would have liked to bowl first. The wicket was covered for the last few days due to the weather. We are all active, whether we are bowling first or second. We have a forced change, Suryansh comes in place of Shashank. Also, Lockie comes in place of Xavier.”
