Shubman Gill moves to GT

On his home ground, Delhi Capitals captain Akshar Patel won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mukesh Kumar made a strong start for DC by taking the wicket of Sai Sudarshan in the first innings. GT recovered from this quickly as Jos Buttler batted brilliantly tonight scoring 52 runs off 27 balls.

Soon after Buttler’s dismissal, Gill, who by then was a well-established batsman on the pitch, geared up and played an inning of 70 runs. The opening batsman hit four fours and five sixes in his 45-ball innings. Shubman Gill’s innings was full of class, maturity and composure.

Washington Sundar also did what the team management told him. With Gill and Sundar in between, Gujarat Titans scored runs at a fast pace. After Buttler and Gill, Washington Sundar also completed his half-century, scoring 55 off 32. Batting first, Gujarat Titans scored 210 for 4 in 20 overs, leaving Delhi Capitals in a challenging position.

KL Rahul is fighting alone for DC

In the second innings, all eyes were on DC’s opening pair. The pairing of KL Rahul and Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka is exciting on paper, but in the last two matches this pair together could not do anything special for the team. KL Rahul, who was in great form for the team in IPL 2025, had also been dismissed cheaply on previous occasions this season.

In this match, both the opening batsmen of the team gave a great start to Delhi Capitals. Soon after the departure of opener Pathum Nissanka, Delhi Capitals suffered two major setbacks in the form of Nitish Rana and Sameer Rizvi. In the 10th over of the run chase, Gujarat Titans’ veteran spinner Rashid Khan dismissed Rana and Rizvi on two consecutive balls.

From 76 for 1 to 101 for 3, the pace of the contest suddenly shifted from DC to GT. Nevertheless, the competition is evenly balanced; Any of these two teams can claim the match.
