Australia captain Pat Cummins shared his all-time India-Australia ODI XI ahead of the white-ball series between the two teams starting on Sunday, October 19. Cummins surprisingly dismissed Virat Kohli, sparking a discussion among fans about the ouster of one of the greatest ODI players of all time.

Australia is set to host India in a three-match ODI series starting from October 19 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The remaining games are scheduled to take place in Adelaide on October 23 and Sydney on October 25. Shubman Gill will lead the Indian team, while Pat Cummins has been ruled out due to a back injury.

Speaking on Star Sports, Pat Cummins revealed his all-time India-Australia ODI XI. Notably, he left out current stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, as he chose cricketers who have already retired from international ODIs.

Cummins chose the left-right combination of David Warner and Sachin Tendulkar for the opening slot. Warner played 161 ODIs for Australia, scoring 6,932 runs, while Tendulkar scored 18,426 runs in 463 matches, including 49 centuries.

Cummins went with Ricky Ponting, Steve Smith, Shane Watson and Michael Bevan for the middle order. Ponting led Australia to multiple ODI World Cup wins and scored 13,704 runs in 375 matches with 30 centuries.

Pat Cummins picks MS Dhoni as wicket-keeper batsman in all-time India-Australia ODI XI

Cummins chose former Indian captain MS Dhoni as his wicketkeeper-batsman at number seven. Dhoni, who led India to victory in the 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy, scored 10,773 runs in 350 ODIs, including 10 centuries.

He chose three specialist fast bowlers and one spinner in his bowling lineup. He chose Brett Lee, who had taken 380 wickets with nine five-wicket hauls. This fast bowler also includes Shane Warne, who took 293 wickets in 194 ODIs and is considered one of Australia’s greatest spinners.

Cummins completed his eleven along with fast bowlers Zaheer Khan and Glenn McGrath. Zaheer, who played a key role in India’s 2011 World Cup win, took 282 ODI wickets, while McGrath finished his career with 381 wickets.

Pat Cummins set to miss limited overs series against India

The 32-year-old will miss the upcoming limited overs series against India after suffering a lower back stress injury during the Test series against the West Indies in July. He continues to recover from his injury, with Mitchell Marsh captaining the ODI team in his absence.

Cummins’ availability for the Ashes, starting on November 21, is also uncertain. He has already been ruled out of the Test and will not be able to play additional matches against England if he does not recover.

Steve Smith is expected to lead Australia in the opening Ashes Test, while Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc will have to shoulder the pace bowling duties in the Australian summer.
