Gujarat Titans coach Parthiv Patel shared some information related to his strategy for the upcoming knockout match against Rajasthan Royals. His attention seemed to be focused only around the wicket of young Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Gujarat Titans will face Rajasthan Royals, who displayed excellent batting performance in the eliminator. Suryavanshi, who played a stormy innings of 97 runs in the match, is a big threat for the opposition team.
Suryavanshi currently tops the Orange Cap leaderboard and has scored 680 runs in this season of the competition. He is batting at a strike rate of 242.82 and has now hit 65 sky-high sixes in this season alone.
We will try to get him out early: Parthiv Patel issues big ultimatum to RR youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Gujarat Titans coach Parthiv Patel gave an honest opinion on his team’s strategy against RR’s explosive batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He claimed that his aim was to get him out early in the innings itself.
“It’s good to see the way he is batting. Hopefully we will try to get him out early and as all other teams have planned, we have watched videos of him and hopefully we will be able to execute our plans against him.”
“Last time I said we should talk about his age. This is something we need to get over. He is a phenomenal talent; it is great to see the way he is playing. From an opponent’s point of view, our approach would be that he will get no tomorrow,” shared Parthiv Patel while addressing the pre-match press conference.
I don’t think there is any kind of temptation: GT coach on Sai Sudarshan’s technique in IPL
Parthiv Patel was also asked whether Sai Sudarshan might be asked to bat with a higher strike rate as he is behind Vaibhav Suryavanshi on the run-scoring leaderboard with 652 runs in the season. He was out in a very unfortunate manner in the last match in Dharamshala.
“No, I don’t think there is any temptation to ask Sai Sudarshan to do it at a high strike rate. He has been very effective, and he is also scoring runs at a reasonable strike rate. It is not that he is scoring less than 100.
Parthiv Patel said, “If someone is scoring close to 300, it does not mean that everyone has to bat at the same strike rate. But he has been very effective and is giving us results. So there is no point in telling Sai Sudarshan that you need to go up in terms of strike rate.”
Rashid Khan has stood by the Titans in difficult times
Talking about Titans’ experienced spinner Rashid Khan, who has taken 19 wickets this season, Parthiv Patel said that the Afghan spinner wants to bowl in difficult conditions as his aim is to stand by his team while taking some solid responsibility.
“Obviously, Rashid needs no introduction with the kind of bowler he has been. We know it has been a tough season for him because he was coming off an injury, but after that he has been bowling consistently and working really hard. We know the kind of bowler he is and how hungry he is to contribute.
Patel said, “He always wants to bowl in those difficult conditions. And that’s why he is bowling well. As I said, there is no question about Rashid’s skill. We have full confidence in him and that is why he has been a part of the Gujarat Titans set-up for a long time.”
