Indian women’s team cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s wedding became the talk of the town when her ex-boyfriend Palash Muchhal proposed to her at the DY Patil Stadium, the same stadium where they won the World Cup 2025. However, tensions rose when the wedding was canceled with cheating allegations against the cricketer’s partner.
Smriti Mandhana was going through the best phase of her life as she led India to its first ever Women’s World Cup title in 2025 and then she was about to marry her long-time boyfriend Palash Muchhal. However, his dream soon turned into a nightmare.
Muchhal and Mandhana were reportedly scheduled to tie the knot on November 23, 2025, but the wedding was called off after the pre-wedding season. Smriti’s father’s health suddenly deteriorated and it was later revealed that the marriage was not postponed but was canceled due to fraud allegations against Palash Muchhal.
Two months have passed since the marriage between Palash Muchhal and Smriti ended and the singer-composer is once again in the headlines over cheating allegations. These allegations have been made by a friend of Mandhana.
Amid the controversy, which has now turned into a court case, the singer-composer has quietly deleted several Instagram posts that featured her with the Indian cricketer and several sweet moments between the two.
The deleted posts included heartfelt birthday wishes, celebratory messages and snapshots of various public and private occasions. The posts were visible until January 23 and have recently disappeared.
Palash Muchhal has filed a defamation case against Smriti Mandhana’s friend.
The controversy resurfaced when Vidyaan Mane, one of Smriti Mandhana’s close friends, alleged that Muchhal was caught in a compromising position with another woman and further claimed that Mandhana’s teammates physically confronted him.
“I was at the wedding ceremony (November, 23, 2025) when he was caught red-handed with another woman in bed. The scene was horrifying, he was beaten up by the Indian women cricketers. The entire family is Chindi thieves. I thought he would get married and settle down in Sangli, but it had a completely opposite effect on me,” Mane said. Mane also accused him of committing a fraud of Rs 40 lakh.
However, Palash Muchhal did not take these allegations lightly, as the musician initiated legal proceedings in the court and filed a defamation case against the actor-producer.
“My lawyer Shreyansh Mithare has sent a legal notice of Rs 10 crore for defamation to Sangli-based Vidyaan Mane for making false, defamatory and highly defamatory allegations made with a deliberate intention to malign my reputation and character,” he said in his statement.
Smriti Mandhana-led RCB tops the WPL points table
However, Smriti Mandhana has moved on from the turmoil in her personal life and continues her profession with full enthusiasm. She played for India against Sri Lanka in the T20I series and is currently leading RCB Women in the WPL.
Under Mandhana’s captaincy, RCB won their first title in the WPL 2024 and the 2026 season has raised hopes of another title with a new group of players. They are without players like Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine and have fielded a new squad with the addition of Grace Harris, Nandine de Klerk and Lauren Bell, who form the new core of the RCB lineup.
Mandhana is leading her team with 230 runs and RCB is currently leading the points table with 5 wins in 6 matches.
